Do you hear gurgling and bubbling sounds?
You will have these sounds when you have water flowing down the drain. Do you have a slow drain? You could be having a blocked drain.
Do you have an odour from your toilet or drain that smells like sewage? This is an indication that you have a blocked vent pipe.
All of them sound so bad, no? Maybe even your toilet started gurgling for no apparent reason. Many of us may have problems with toilet bubbling and flushing. Let’s go over some tips on things that may be causing the problems and some solutions that can help you with the flushing or bubbling problems.
Why does This happen?
The bubbling and the flushing problems usually have to do with venting issues which is like air issues, not enough air coming into the system. The reason is easy cause we know water can’t go down the drain unless you have enough air in the system. Gurgling indicates the abnormal suction building in the line. The negative air pressure will eventually release, pushing air backward through the drainpipe and into the toilet bowl.
Sometimes the problem is with the way the house is built and the configuration of the plumbing isn’t proper and has to be redone.
But sometimes there are other issues. Maybe some mineral deposits in the toilet in the siphoning system or some float adjustment issue every once in a while and it’s probably something more serious something happened to do with the house. You could have galvanized pipes in your house that have been restricted or you can have a clog that developed that got snagged in there and kind of developed and encapsulated itself on the walls of the pipe and don’t allow free-flowing water to siphon down the system. You can have a vent pipe that’s clogged and it’s not uncommon that squirrels or birds build nests and vent pipes and then they get clogged and they have to be snaked out from the roof.
Solutions.
There are some solutions that can solve your problems.
Seal off the drains in nearby sinks, showers, and tubs, and then plunge the toilet. A sewer snake (also known as a plumber’s auger) can often remove tough clogs in a drainpipe that plunging can’t manage. A clog in the vent stack could be restricting airflow and causing the gurgle and for solving this you should get on the roof. If you want to do it by yourself you need a strong flashlight, a thin rope, duct tape, and a garden hose and if the clog would be within 8 to 10 feet of the top of the pipe, you’ll often be able to see it. But remember it could be so dangerous and maybe you want to call some expert to do this for you. There is this possibility that maybe the problem is common in the neighbourhood. if so call your local sewer authority and report the problem. They’ll send someone out to check the sewer main, and if that’s where the problem lies, they’ll most likely cover all costs for repairing it. And if in the end, the problem persists, despite your best effort, it’s time to call plumper to help you.
